What is Bitumen?
Bitumen is a sticky, black material that resembles a thick liquid or a semi-solid. It is a complex combination of hydrocarbons and is either found naturally or obtained as a leftover product from refining crude oil. Mehr Oil's Bitumen Production: Mehr Oil is a leading producer of high-quality bitumen in Iraq, utilizing advanced refining processes. Our primary grade is 60/70 penetration bitumen, a widely used standard for various applications. However, we understand that different projects have unique requirements. Therefore, we are equipped to produce bitumen of any grade specified by our customers, ensuring tailored solutions for diverse needs.
Petroleum Bitumen
This common type of bitumen comes from the crude oil refining process. It is available in different grades based on its physical properties like
.viscosity, how easily it can be penetrated, and the temperature at which it softens

.Penetration Grades:60/70 (Primary Grade): Widely used for asphalt in roads and pavements
.We can also produce other penetration grades such as PG 52-34, PG 64-22, PG 85-25 based on customer specifications
.Viscosity Grades:We can produce viscosity grades such as AC 10, AC 20, AC 30 as per customer requirements
.Softening Point Grades:We can produce softening point grades such as 60-70°C, 70-80°C, 80-90°C, and any other grade as per customer requirements
Applications of Bitumen
Road Construction: Main binder in asphalt for paving roads, highways, and runways. Roofing: Used in producing shingles, membranes, and waterproofing materials. Waterproofing: Used to create barriers in basements, tunnels, and other structures.

Carbon: 82-88%
Hydrogen: 8-11%
Oxygen: 0-1.5%
Sulfur: 0-6%
Nitrogen: 0-1%
